He is since 2006 a Professor in Higher Education, currently affiliated with ICBAS – University of Porto. Since 2006 he has been involved in several projects related to the epidemiology of infectious diseases.
His research interests focus in particular on animal and human infectious diseases, mainly on zoonotic agents, with special focus on surveillance tools, epidemiology and infection control. He is author or co-author of several scientific articles and book chapters, and editor of several scientific journals. |
Priscilla Gomes da Silva has a degree in Biological Sciences with a specialization in Genetics and Biotechnology from the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), Manaus, Brazil (2017). She holds a Masters in Biology with specialization in Neuroscience and Human Biology from Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Budapest, Hungary (2019).
She is currently a PhD student in the Biomedical Sciences program at ICBAS at the Porto University. Her research interests include medical microbiology and immunology, with a focus on immunology, molecular biology, and the epidemiology of infectious viral diseases. Her main research activities now focus on the clinical and molecular virology of SARS-CoV-2, mainly with regard to airborne transmission. |
Mette has a doctorate in virology (veterinary medicine, 1999). She's the head of the National Reference Laboratory for viruses in food and water since 2002 and a member of the Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food and Environment.
She is a professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Science of the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. Her expert subject areas are viral infections in animals and environmental and food virology, more specifically risk ranking and source attribution of food-and waterborne pathogens for surveillance purposes. |
